On the morning of March 7, 2024, Mr. Zhao Yanrong, the full-time Vice Chairman of the DAB Yunnan Provincial Committee and Deputy Secretary-General of the Yunnan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), along with other members of his delegation, visited Kunming SYS Environmental Protection Science and Technology Co., Ltd. (KMSYS).

Accompanied by the SYS team, Mr. Zhao and his party toured the Kunming No. 1 Water Purification Plant, which utilizes SYS's spore transfer technology for ultra-limit phosphorus removal and upgrading. They also visited the Shufang River, where the treated tailwater from the plant is discharged. During the visit, the delegation learned about SYS’s technology, the treatment process, and the operation of on-site equipment. They expressed their recognition and appreciation of SYS's technological capabilities and operational services.

Afterwards, the two sides engaged in a discussion and exchange. Jiang Nan, the third-grade researcher from the Theory Research Office of the DAB Yunnan Provincial Committee, began by introducing the development history and current status of the DAB in Yunnan. He mentioned that carrying out democratic supervision over the protection and governance of the nine highland lakes is a new task assigned by the CPC Yunnan Provincial Committee to the Unified Front of Yunnan, with the DAB Yunnan Provincial Committee taking primary responsibility for the democratic supervision of the protection and governance of Erhai Lake.

Ge Jing then provided a detailed introduction to the results achieved by SYS in the treatment of Dianchi Lake and other projects, particularly the water quality purification plant upgrading projects at Kunming No. 1, No. 3, No. 6, No. 7, No. 8, and No. 9, which utilize SYS’s ultra-limit phosphorus removal technology. These projects have a treatment capacity of 1.5 million cubic meters per day, making them the largest in the world in terms of daily treatment capacity and the highest in effluent quality. These projects have played a key role in improving the quality of water treatment for Dianchi Lake and increasing treatment efficiency.

Focusing on the protection and management of Erhai Lake and drawing from SYS’s successful experience in the Dianchi Basin, Ge Jing proposed that the core of lake management lies in establishing an effective management mechanism. He further emphasized the importance of ecological restoration and water source protection.

Symposium exchanges

Zhao Yanrong expressed full recognition and gratitude to SYS and Chairman Ge Jing for their achievements in water environment management, watershed management, technological innovations, and future development plans. He also thanked SYS for its support of the work of the Yunnan Provincial Committee of the Democratic Alliance of the Chinese People (DAB). He hoped that the two sides would further strengthen communication and cooperation, contributing more wisdom and effort to the protection and management of the high plateau lakes in Yunnan Province.

In response, Chairman Ge Jing affirmed his continued support for the work of the DAB Yunnan Provincial Committee. He expressed his commitment to promoting the ongoing development of environmental protection in Yunnan Province and across the country, contributing to the construction of a beautiful China by offering advice and suggestions.
